Who We Are
In Brazil, there are over 200 million people who motivate us daily to continue with our purpose: to excellently care for cardiovascular health.
We are the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, and since 1943, we have worked with commitment and determination to transform the landscape of cardiovascular diseases in Brazil.
We are proud to be among the largest and best medical societies in Latin America and the world.
This only motivates us to move forward, with an eye on the future, but without forgetting our essence and the values that have made the SBC a reference in the science and history of medicine in the country.
We are present throughout the national territory. From north to south, the Society has 24 state branches and 14 specialized departments. We total more than 14,000 members including academics, residents, doctors, and other health professionals. We have come this far because we always strive to make a difference in the lives of cardiologists and their patients.
Over the past 80 years, we have celebrated countless advances in Cardiology, with significant reductions in mortality rates, increases in survival, and improvements in the quality of life for many people. Many of these advances were made by Brazilian cardiologists, members of the SBC, and save lives every day, around the world.
There are still many challenges, but we will continue steadfast - investing in scientific production and guidelines, offering courses and continuing education, promoting debates, events, and campaigns for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, as well as contributing to public policies that affect the heart health of every Brazilian.
The future awaits us and from our side, there will be no lack of energy and commitment to work for the health, well-being, and longevity of the entire population.
