General Assembly of Associate-Delegates
The General Assembly of Associate Delegates (AGAD) is the body that appoints the members of the Administrative Council (CA), following changes to the Social Statute of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC).
Under the new management model, the positions of president and board have been eliminated, replaced by an Administrative Council and the president of the Administrative Council. This Council is the highest authority below the AGAD, and will make all decisions for the entity. The president of the CA will not make any decisions without approval from the Administrative Council.
The Administrative Council is organized into five committees: Research and Innovation; Care Quality; Scientific; Departments; and International Relations, which will work together. In total, there are ten members, two doctors from each region defined by the SBC: South (Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), North/Northeast (Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Piauí, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe), Central (covering Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, and the Federal District), East (covering Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo), and Paulista (covering only São Paulo).
Elections
The annual election of the members of the Administrative Council, the Fiscal Council (CONFI), and the Electoral and Professional Ethics Commission (CELEP) ensures the continuous renewal and equitable representation of all states, vital for reinforcing cohesion, mutual agreement, and the effectiveness of initiatives at the SBC. This active participation of the associates is crucial.
Three members are chosen for the Administrative Council for three-year terms, representing the regions determined by the statutes and based on the end of current mandates. Additionally, a holder and his alternate are appointed for the CELEP, and one member for the CONFI, both following the statute and future regulations.
Associates who meet the established requirements may apply or be proposed by other members until the deadline. The CELEP will be responsible for communicating the norms and specifications of the electoral process, ensuring wide dissemination among the associates and through this portal. Nominations will take place at the General Assembly of Associate Delegates (AGAD). Details on how to apply and other relevant information will be made available in the Notice, accessible on this page once published.
Governance Model
In January 2022, the SBC began a significant change in its history: an Administrative Council took over management and became responsible for all decisions of the entity. With the implementation of a new governance model and policy, the SBC ensures representativeness and plurality. It is committed to the scientific enhancement of Cardiology, the defense of the professional, and participation in the construction of public health policies.
